These last brief sub-modules are really meant to introduce some of the things that are more site-oriented that we have not yet touched on. First we look at some of the factors involved in installing software packages for the server, including a brief introduction to common Unix commands. Then we touch on issues of search engines, linking, and analytics.

Readings
There are no particular readings this time around, though I might suggest a few books if you are interested in these topics:
And you might find the Beginners Guide to SEO worth perusing.
Special Challenges
While there is no “final project”, per se, in the course, the final challenges are designed to be more substantial and more singular. Doing one of these challenges individually may take some time, but largely builds on existing skills you have already executed in earlier modules. One challenge alone completes the requirements for the seventh week.
For module seven alone, you are permitted to turn in one project authored by a group of people. Somewhere on the project there should be a clear indication of who built it. This comes with a caveat: I am not a marriage counselor. Everyone in a group will get the same grade on the project, and so I recommend that you only partner with those whom you feel you can trust. Free-riding is an unfortunate mainstay of group work–inside and outside of the university. Look over your potential partners’ work in the course thus far, and be sure you want to work with them.
