1-3: Web & Internet

You don’t need to know exactly how the internet works in order to create dynamic websites. However, you do need to have some basic understanding of what it is and how it is organized. In this sub-module, we’ll do a quick overview, focusing mostly on those things that we will need to know to do our work in the class; namely, the idea of a protocol or standard, the client-server relationship, and the structure of URLs. We end by setting up some web space and publishing our first document to the world.
